Open Air Museum
May 14, 2009
We got up, had breakfast, and went to the “Freilicht museumâ€. Essentially Doon Crossroads –alla Germany. Lots of historical buildings to walk through. R was very happy because we rented her a little wagon. So she didn’t complain about being tired, as she crawled in when she wanted to. She also spent a lot of time just pulling the wagon around. She wore her Hello Kitty Tiara most of the day. It’s sad really, because I didn’t even notice it until now as I was reviewing the pictures I had taken!
From one of the buildings there was a back door that opened onto a field. The dandelions are just finishing here, but they also have this cute daisy-like flower that is blooming in the grass now. It is all quite pretty. Anyways, R sees this field and goes running out singing “The hillls are alive with the sound of music†as loud as she can, no joke. It was so very sweet.
We had a quick lunch there, at a “Wurst budeâ€, and there were some old carnival rides. They were roped off. A gentleman who worker there came over and asked Rebecca if she wanted to try the swing, and later the Merri-go-round too. The swing dates from 1928, and the Merry-go-round from 1930.
Rebecca, what a nice thing to do, to go and sing that song in the field there! We are so proud of you, Rebecca!
