Lots of firsts
Posted by ahechtenns On January 14, 2010
Today we tried out lots of ‘firsts’ for J. We tried him out in the MacLaren stroller (nice travel stroller) as we want to use this on our upcoming trip. J seemed to be ok in it, but he seemed to need a bit of shoulder support.
We also tried him out in our booster chair that has a nice tray to attach. He is still a bit small for it, but with the grippy stuf on the chair he doesn’t really slide around.
Another thing we tired was our Hip Hammock carrier. We used it extensively when we adopted R from China. J seems to be ok to it, as long as we keep our arm around him, but we do that anyway. Daddy tried it out by taking J out to pick up R from school.
Grandma bought R a cute apron about 2 years ago, and she also bought and gave us a matching bib. It was ment for our next addition, and he is finally here! How cute isn’t it?
Better late than never

I forgot to post this. January 1st we had family over for waffles, and R promised to have a “Nativity Play” in the basement. R had costumes, stuffed animals, daddy, and props in her her play. It was very entertaining. Daddy was the shepherd, and he had a tiny paper shepherd’s crook. She drew this picture for me. Mary on the donkey, Joseph, and the angel in the top left corner.
Exersaucer first time
Posted by ahechtenns On January 10, 2010
Today J was in the exersaucer for the first time. He seemed to really like it, and very very quickly figured out that he could turn around. He was also very drooly today, hence the bib.
Updates

Hey,
So sorry I haven’t updated until now. There’s been some technical problems, and my other half has been very busy. Anyways, things should be fine now!
Skating lessons
Posted by ahechtenns On January 9, 2010
R is signed up for more skating lessons. She is happy to be in the class with her best friend N. She is making remarkable progress. At the beginning of the lessson she was still walking on the ice, and by the end of the lesson she was already starting to do the one leg push glide.
Great Wolf Lodge
Posted by ahechtenns On January 6, 2010
We were at great wolf lodge as our first family of 4 mini vacation. We met some other friends, fellow adopters, and had a good time. Here are some pictures.
J did a lot of this, although his naps are always mini, averaging about 10 min.
Daddy brought J into the pool for a bit. He didn’t mind the water at all. He likes his bath too, so that didn’t surprise me.
And here is our fish like daughter in the pool.
Cookies

R and I decided to ice cookies today. Daddy had made spectacular cookies last week and the day for us to ice had finally come. We had a good time!
Drool

I’ve noticed that today J seems to be drooling. That is a new thing. I’ve never seen him do that before.
New thing
Posted by ahechtenns On December 28, 2009
Today was a first for little J. He playing on this play mat today. He seemed to really like it, especially looking at himself in the mirror. He seems to be his own best friend. QUite often in the morning he lies on the counter (on a towel) looking at himself in the mirror while we get ready for the day.
Another thing, J really doesn’t like his car seat. The trouble is, he is quite unpredictable, and we never know exactly when he will start screaming. Here for example. We brought him in from the car and he slept, shortly later on he was screaming…

Christmas

Christmas. Things were different this year with a new baby in the house. We had a quiet Christmas morning staying at home and opening gifts by ourselves, then had Oma & Opa, plus Uncle B and Auntie V, and cousin Z over for the afternoon and evening. I attempted to cook a roast beef for supper. It was ok, except that it wasn’t done soon enough, so we cut it up and put it in the over in pieces. This sped things up. It was a nice holiday season. Here are some of the pictures.
J looking his new bear in the eye
Uncle B, Auntie V and Z reading a book
Oma opening her gifts
Opa and J peaking around the corner. Opa thought it was great fun to peak from behind the wall with J.
R and Zoya are in front of our tree here. Unfortunately my daughter was in a bad mood and she decided to let me know that in the picture! Doesn’t she look miserable!?!?
And here is our most precious gift this year.
