Grandpa is pin free!
Posted by ahechtenns On June 1, 2010
Grandpa is pin free! For those of you who didn’t know, he fell a few weeks back and needed a pin/screw to hold bones in place while his hand healed. Today the pin finally came out. He will still need the cast for a few more weeks, but this was a big step. We celebrated with them with a BBQ on the deck, first one of the season.
Here is Grandma,
And R and J together
Can you guess where we were?

Yup Centre island. We had a good time being there. We had a picnic, R and her friend played in the lake, splashpad, and then the girls went on some of the rides. All in all a nice day.
Can you guess what she’s drawn?

Ok, I’m catching up, this was taken mid April. Still, do you know your kid movies? Can you guess who R has drawn? Let me know your guesses in the comments!
Fun with spit
Posted by ahechtenns On May 22, 2010
Sorry, don’t have a picture for you. J is full of spit these days. He drools constantly, blows raspberries, and just plays with the saliva in his mouth. He also continues to do his weird twisted tounge thing. Oh the fun we have.
R is having a great time at gymnastics. She even got asked to be in the ‘elite’ program. When I asked her if she wanted to go to gymnastics 3 times a week, she sweetly said no. This despite the fact that she LOVES gymnastics, and does skin the cats on our counters. She is also always practicing cartwheels. SHe is also really improving on her skipping. She can now do the slow skip, with the big jump over the rope, then little jump. She can also ‘walk’ while skipping. I asked her who taught her these things, she told me her friend K at school. She’s getting very excited for the “Jump Rope for Heart” day next week. She has asked grandparents and Uncle B to ‘sponker’ her for the event.
Neat shirt!

Uncle B gave us this super cute shirt. Below “Future Math Major” it says “I stick to the formula”.. to cute eh? We had a nice day. Church in the morning, then a nice lunch together. After naps, we spent the rest of the day outside, it was nice and sunny. The patio furniture came out, and my plants finally came out of the garage. Later Uncle B, Auntie V, and Z came over. It was so nice, we had a nice BBQ. Ah, summer.
Butterfly Conservatory
Posted by ahechtenns On May 13, 2010
I went with R’s class to the Butterfly conservatory. We had a good time. There were lots of butterflies fluttering about. One even landed on me, which made the kids laugh hysterically. We also got a chance to see a local moth up close, and the kids (not me!) touched a giant hissing cockroach too. It was a good time. R is posing here with a butterfly wing. One that was available for the kids to touch, not one she pulled off a butterfly!
Eating new things
Posted by ahechtenns On May 6, 2010
Here is my little J man. Someone asked us if he was eating cookies/crackers yet. I never thougth of that before, so I broke out the Baby mum mums (Melt in your mouth rice crackers), and let J have one. It took a little bit, but he got the hang of it, and seemed to enjoy it! He was also definately much happier today, lots of smiles, even a little bit of cooing.
Guess what popped up?
Posted by ahechtenns On May 5, 2010
It seems that overnight our little J man popped out a tooth! Ok, it is just the very sharp pointy top, but the start of a tooth none the less. I had checked yesterday wondering if that was the problem, but it must have actually broke through during the night. J was little more himself today. Some more smiles, a few giggles, but also some tears. Still we are improving little bits each day. I haven’t downleaded the picture yet, but R requested braids today, and we managed to put them in. She looks so much older!!
Too quiet I know…

Sorry I’ve not posted much I know. Our little J man is in the hospital. He has pnemonia. While he is in a great hospital, it is about an hour drive away. This makes things complicated. So I spend my time going back and forth between home and the hospital. Grandpa steps in to take care of R when I’m gone. Daddy is staying near the hosptial.
I know he looks pretty bad in the picture, but he is stable for the most part. Still, he is likely to be in the hospital for a while. The little goat in the picture was a present from the nurse.
