Go go go go!
Posted by ahechtenns On November 13, 2010
Yup, my little tyke can say “go, go, go, go”!! It is very funny. I’m not sure if he knows what it means, but he’ll repeat it if you say it. I think he likes it because it is a new sound for him. I am also teaching him “All done”. This is done in signing as rubbing your hands together. When I’m feeding him and I get his had waving/pushing my hand with the spoon away, I now ask if he is “all done” and he shows me the hand signal. I don’t know if he knows what it means, but at least he associates the hand signal with the words.
And another first?? My dear daughter R was sick! I actually had to call her in sick two times this week, including today. Not sure exactly what was wrong, but she has J’s cough, and her stomach really hurt. I sat beside her with a bowl for about an hour while things were dicey. For those of you that know me, you will realize what a huge, and I mean HUGE deal that was for me. I don’t throw up, and I refuse to do it! I think R has a little of me in her! Poor thing.
By the way, she L-O-V-E-S the new car. She is thrilled that she has a button inside to open the sliding doors, she loves the built in sun shades, she loves being able to sit close or far away from her brother!! We have not yet tried out the DVD player, we told her it is only for long (out of town) rides, and she is on pins and needles to try it out. I’m thrilled with the wireless headphones that come with it!!
New things abound

Well, it seems J has come through the worst of the cold, and is now on the up swing. He is much happier, and is sleeping through the night again (which makes us happier!). Now he seems to be bursting with new things. Today he managed to cruise along the coffee table!! Granted it is only about 1m from end to end, but he still managed to ‘cruise’ from one end to the other. Not quickly mind you, but when I realized he had done it he got some serious smooches!
At Logos with daddy, he learned another life saving skill. Before he would make a continious tone, and we would move his lips to make noises. He learned to do it himself today! Very important I know.
Yes, it’s a van
Posted by ahechtenns On November 10, 2010
Though I really really hate the word “Van”. We decided on an Odessy, the thing that sold us on it was the comfy 2nd row seats for adults. When we do take our parents places, it is likley that adults will be in the back, so they more comfortable, the better.
I did an informal poll amongst my mini-van owning mom friends, and most people thought the sliding doors were most important feature. one friend (who shall remain nameless!) said the back-up camera would have saved them lots of money…and was worth the price! I have 2 favourite features so far (aside from the fantastic sliding doors), the ‘conversational mirror’, aka spy on your passengers from the front, and the abilbity to have 3 yes THREE latched car seats across the second row. Fantastic I say.
We both really wanted to like the Mazda 5, as we wanted a car, (the only car available with sliding doors) but after sitting in it, it wasn’t for us. Our Prius serves pretty much the same purpose as this car, so having one small and one larger car seemed the best route for us.
Unpacking
Posted by ahechtenns On November 10, 2010
J like unpacking bags. I remember my niece going through the same phase, so it’s no real surprise, but very cute none the less. He found R’s halloween pumpkin, and had a great time pulling everything out. I was a good mom and I took out all the small stuff first, don’t worry. He first found the Junior mint box, and he had a good time shaking that. Then he found the smarties box, and those made a great accompaniment to the mints. Surprisingly, the fuzzy peach candy package also made a good shaker…Can’t wait until next year when he wants to OPEN them all….
End of a decade

The end of a decade is here. The old Pathfinder is on the way out, and a new car is coming tomorrow!!! Stay tuned!
Halloween
Posted by ahechtenns On October 31, 2010
Hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween. We did. It sure was chilly though! I did like the fact that it was still light when we struck out at 6. Cousin L was with us, dressed in a very pretty dirndl. J was a giraffe, and R was my little Dorothy. She was very upset I made her put her coat on over top, but about an hour in she was complaining to me about how cold she was.
Cousin Z was along too, and a super cute little monkey, (R’s old costume). Of course we also went with our dear neighbours. Good times!
Dieffenbaker

Our boy kitty Dief was put to sleep this morning at our vet’s office. I took Dief into the vet this morning to have him looked at but he was much sicker than we had thought and was in pain. We’ll miss him.
Carving pumpkins
Posted by ahechtenns On October 24, 2010
We had a nice day (after R had a nap to recover from the sleepover). After a delightful afternoon b-day party at the local conservation authority (happy bday G!) we went to grandma and grandpa’s to carve pumpkins with them and L. It was quite fun!
Sleepover!

Well, Oma had another sucessful sleepover with her grand-girls. The girls loved it, got to count the stars, and of course stay up late. Apparently they were asleep by about 10pm, but up at 5:30….ayja!
Standing and crouching…

J was practicing standing up and crouching down with me coaching him on. What a cute kid. Here are some pictures of the workout.
