Funny thing R said
Posted by ahechtenns On April 11, 2011
So R and I were reading a story. In the story a child who was mis-behaving got send to the principal’s office. She asks “Why do you get send to the principal’s office”? I explained that when you behaviour is so bad that your teacher can’t deal with you, you get sent to the principal’s office to talk to them. So I asked her “Do you ever get sent to the principal’s office”? She answers “no, oh, only to get hurt” HAHAHAH.
I asked her if she got hurt often, but she was laughing to hard to answer at this point….
Another first for J-bean today, we read stories while he drank his bottle, and then BRUSHED TEETH before bed….mind you his first brushing was only about 10 seconds long, but I really wanted to make sure it stayed positive!
The only cure for chrome is more chrome…

What the hecK? Here I am just watching tv relaxing and I hear this commercial for some sort of large truck and the tag line is “The only cure for chrome is more chrome” What?? It became very clear to me in that exact moment that I was definatlely not the target market for that commercial. I think it will be my new tag-line though.
Syrup

We went to the Maple Syrup Festival today. It was a brilliant sunny day. J had a good time in the backpack carrier. It was so very crowded it was a good thing he was up high. He was pointing and waving, making friends everywhere. R had carefully counted out $5.59 cents from her piggybank and was looking for things to buy. She settled on a pack of glow in the dark silly bands. We went and saw “Old MacDonald’s Farm”. There were baby chicks, a calf, a horse and foal, a sheep with 2 lambs, 3 pigs and bunnies. R also did the straw maze, and milked the fake cow (like last year). We didn’t stay to long as R got cold feet (literally). Still, it was fun all the same.

Words words words

So I was trying to make a list yesterday of all of J’s words. As of yesterday, the list looked like this
mama, dada, (sister’s name)
bye bye
K-ty (kitty)
mao (what the kitty says)
Go
Ca (for car)
Bu (for button)
PL (for please learned last week)
Ca-ca for cracker learned yesterday
Hand signs he knows (which apparently count as words according to the speech therapist)
All done
More
waves “hi”
Waves “bye bye”
Points at things he wants
Not a bad list eh? Well, today he added two more. Grandpa and grandma had him for the morning, and J loves being with them. When they were dropping him off I heard him say Gr-pa quietly, but grandpa heard it too and was pleased as punch! Later in the evening R was getting J to chortle in the car on the way home. It was hilarious, it almost sounded like he was going to split his gut! Anyways. I was trying to record this on my Blackberry, and I said to R, “Ready…set” and small boy sayd “GO”!! I had no idea he knew that!
J’s first haircut

Sigh….. my baby doesn’t look like a baby anymore. Daddy had been nudging me to get small boy’s hair cut for quite some time. I really didn’t want to, but things were getting a little out of control, especially when you would take his winter hat off, his hair would stand on end. So off we went to “Cookie Cutters”. He sat in the same green race car where R got her first hair cut about 5 years ago! He was a really good sport, he loved turning the steering wheel of his car, and really enjoyed the stimulating surroundings at the salon. He did try to brush away the scissors a few times, and the poor stylist really had to be patient and he was moving his head all around. Still, it worked out. He is darling and cute, but no longer my baby!
New tooth

I have had a lot of posts about teeth recently haven’t I? Well today I asked daddy to check if J’s eye teeth were in, and if seems he has cut the top left one, not the rest though. Poor little guy. He had to come with me again today to school to count chocolate bar money. He was happy for a while, then a little whiny. The principal heard this and was nice enough to bring in a whole box of toys that kept him occupied for the rest of the time.

Happy birthday daddy
Posted by ahechtenns On March 24, 2011
Can you believe it, I don’t have a picture of the birthday boy! It started early, I got up with the kids at 6:30 and we wrote daddy a card and got breakfast ready for him. It consisted of a bagel, a slice of coconut cream pie, and a glass of coke. Breakfast of champions don’t you know. Unfortunately with him at work we didn’t really get to celebrate we will tomorrow with the family.
We had a function at church this evening. It is a program we regularily go to. For the dinner today, we pretended we were on an airplane. They did a really good job of setting up chairs to look like airplane rows, they had Air Canada safety instructions, tickets, and we had airplane like food. So before we started dinner, they told us to “Buckle our imaginary seatbelts, put up our imaginary trays, and prepare for take-off”. This was the conversation between R and her friend E.
R went to get the safety instructions that had fallen,
and E said, “R!! We are to remain in our seats at all times!”
R just stared at her and then said, “I had to pick it up because it fell.”
E: “Your life is more presciouser than getting that thing.”
R: What would be really bad is if we died.
E: the worst thing that could happen woulld be if all the people in the world would perish forever.
What cuties!

So I came upstairs to get J after his nap, this is what I found. What’s up with that!! He loves those little face cloths, they are his fav. Whenever he is in his crib he wants at least one of these in his hand, he rubs he face with it. I guess he decided to see if he could suck on it.
What is this???

We were all ready for spring when this surprise got dumped on us. Our deck was CLEAR 12 hours earlier! Rude I say. I looked out and saw about 10 robins, all with their feathers plumped, huddled down in the falling snow.
I felt so bad for them! I sent R out to get our bird feeder so I could fill it. She did the brave girl, even though the snow was up to her knees!
