2 words together…
Posted by ahechtenns On May 22, 2011
J is awake. He has a cold. He is with us in the basement snacking on apple. He just turned to daddy with the container of puffed wheat in his hand and said “Please dada..” how cute! First time i’ve hear 2 words together that didn’t start with “go…” like Go Becca, or go mama…
Snuggles

I have mentioned how J is obsessed with hot & cold? Well whenever he sees a mug he raises his hand in the ‘stop’ gesture. He does this all the time, multiple times. Daddy taught him about cold. As i was icing my knee he came over and touched the ice pack, said ‘cold’ (sounded like gold) and shook his head like we did when we immitated shivering. Too cute.
I had a lovely snuggle session with my kids on the couch today. I was lying down, J was on me, and R was snuggled beside me, with my head in her lap. We had some good giggles.
Here J is wearing the ‘hardware’ pants I made him, and in the picture above he is making his famous ‘piggy lips’.

Today was a day chalked FULL of new stuff for the J bean. He was with Oma and Opa for the morning, and he actually ate t-h-r-e-e- whole raspberries for them. He seems to be starting to develop a taste for them. Yesterday he ate a few bites of strawberry. He still makes these terrible faces like you’re feeding him something awful, but berries have been staying in recently.
So after nap I gave him some lunch. I tried banana by the forkfull, and that seemed to be popular (rather than letting him bit banana off). Out of habit, I said “J say Ba-na-na”. He says “na-na”!! I couldn’t believe it. I clapped and said “good boy” (something he now expects when he does something good) and he actually repeated na-na for me a few times! He also said “noodles”, but i couldn’t get him to repeat that. This was the first time he has used the “N” sound.
Well, after that we were off to therapy, where he stunnded me and the therapist again. He stood several times, for about 20 or MORE seconds at a time, standing with legs bent, and far apart, like you would if you were on a surf board for the first time. He was rock solid! I managed to keep him occupied with toys so that he didn’t cry at all. He also did walking with the therapist, she only held onto his pants. He wasn’t speedy at all, but he did walk across the room to me several times as I enticed him with several different musical instruments. He also spend some time going from standing to crouching, and back to standing with very little help (once with NO help!). I was blown away. WOW. What progress. Then I spilled the bubbles and sat in them, but still even with wet pants, I was so totally excited!
After we picked up R, we played outside with the neighbours. J was quite active, crawling from one side of the yard to the other and back. Even once we were inside he travelled from our eat in area to the living room many many times. He is getting so brave and adventerous! I am so very very proud.
Oh, and he cut the last eye tooth as well.
Cold, bird, bear

What’s with these words?? J’s new words. He is fascinated with birds, and likes to point them out. Today he climbed towards a friend with a panda on her shirt, and told her “bear”. He also L-O-V-E-S to touch cups. He makes the ‘stop’ sign for hot, and knows he isn’t supposed to touch hot things, and recently learned ‘cold’, in relation to cold cups he likes to touch….He’s also very very wiggly. I stopped by the library today, thinking i could take a few minutes to pick out some books for me, well litte J man had other ideas. He “lodle-lodle-lodled” with increasing volume. I kept trying to shush him, but a librarian came over and told me she enjoyed hearing it! Anyways, near the paperbacks he got even louder, and it wasn’t so cute. I have to grab books and run…
Oh, in the pic R is feeding J noodles from a thermos. Sweeties.
Just some pics from home

Aren’t my kids just the cutest? You have to understand I only got pics of J smiling because R was climbing around on my back at the time being extremely silly.
Here he is signaling ‘More, more” as in more of R’s goofiness.
R is always up for posing for the camera, especially when I let her do what she will and I just snap away.
New Words…

J learned a new word yesterday from daddy. “Tickle”!! He says it pretty clearly too! It’s quite funny. When you ask him if he wants to get tickled, he starts tickling his belly! Today was another ‘word’. When I ask him to sing, he sings a few notes! R is always singing around her, and so are we, so it’s nice to see that he is getting into the swing of things too!

Here is my last easter picture. I’m so happy with the way they turned out.
Never, ever again
Posted by ahechtenns On April 26, 2011
This will go down as one of those things that I will never, ever do it again. I sewed this bathrobe for R. I was suckered in with the beautiful fabric. It’s called Minky, and boy is it every soft and cuddly. When she was around 3 I bought her a bathrobe in a size 5. Granted, she wore it until this year, but I knew its time was running out. I was lured in with the fabric, and hooked for good with a ‘simple’ bathrobe pattern. The thing that was so awful was that for every cut I made, the fabric gave off fluff. And I mean serious fluff, hot pink fluff. I realized the problem after the first cut, but then I was already committed. So on I went. Every time I sewed, I had to break out the vaccum. It’s been a nasty week of sewing, but I’m finally done…and I’m happy to report I’ve finally gotten to put the vaccum away. 🙂
Egg hunting

Today was a mixed bag of weather. The morning was rainy, but the sun managed to come through by afternoon. R needed new runners, so we went to the mall together. She decided she wanted runners that had laces. I was pushing the velcro ones, but she was determined. I must say I was quite amazed at how quickly she can tie her own laces. She looked so grow up with lace up runners!
In the afternoon family came over and we had a little egg hunt with the kids. Here are the pictures.

Palm Sunday

Today was Palm Sunday. Our church had the same procession of children waving palm branches as we do every year. Every year I find it just as sweet.
