Hammock Chair

I purchased my first item from Ebay a little while ago.  I decided what our backyard needed was an ultra-comfy hammock chair.  Ebay was great, and much cheaper that the Canadian store quoted me.  I could really get hooked on it….which I think is what A worries about!  Anyways.  Tonight R had a little relaxation time in it too.

Ok, so I haven’t posted much

I’ve been sick since last weekend.  A is sick too, so Father’s Day was quite subdued here.  Anyways.  I haven’t been snapping as many pictures as usual, but I managed to snap a few tonight.  The garden is flourishing, things are quite lush.  I only have 2 rose plants (I’m not particularily fond of them), but I couldn’t resist snapping pictures of them with the rain drops.  They make a lovely statement.  This rose is called “Love and Peace”.

I was also very excited to see that a robin has nested in our fir tree.  I just saw her peeking out of the branches while sitting on her nest.  I’ll have to show R tomorrow.

3 Kids in a boat

We had a delightful pool party today at one of R’s Sunday school friends’ house.  The kids had a good time in the pool, and it was a nice visit for us adults too.  Good times.

Pizza maker

My litte pizza maker.  She likes to help a lot.  She ‘helped’ by eating lots of pepperoni!!  She also decided that daddy needed a whole clove of garlic on his pizza.

The incredible green Hulk…oh, I mean R

Yes green.  This is what my delightful daughter is in to these days.  She loves to be outside as long as she has water and chalk.  These key ingredients form a delightful sticky paste when combined, and R has a blast painting on the patio…chairs..rocks…pretty much anything, including herself.   She has figured out that she can load her hands with colour, then stamp them all over the patio.  I think I’m ok with this (as chalk washes out easily), I have trouble when she comes over to me or my lovely hammock chair and gets us all gooey.

It’s a delight to be outside after the long winter and watch the garden grow.  Things are really looking full and lush now, I’ll have to post some picutres in the gallery (give me a day!)  Year 4 for the garden and things are filling in nicely.  In fact I really need to do some dividing too.

R says…

Ok so the picture doesn’t have anything to do with the post below, I just loved it.

Well, it’s been a funny last few days.  R has come up with many interesting phrases.

Daddy says “I don’t think you need that granola bar”.  R says “In fact I do neeed that because I am hungry!”R is pulling on her pony tails.   I say, “Stop pulling at your ponies”, R says “They are like my attenas!  ….Bugs have antennas!”While watching the video of the song “Move It Move It” from Madagascar R pipes up “The lion alex did a somersault, that was so incredible!”

While driving in the car lately R seems to be asking more questions than usual.  So the other day she asks “What’s a car mummy?”  I admit to being tired and not feeling up to answering the usual slew of questions, so I answered “We are driving in a car.”  She told me “Mummy, that is not a good explanation, tell me what a car is!”……so short answers don’t really cut it with her anymore, and I find that I’m having to stretch my mind more and more!

Catching butterflies

We’ve finally had some nicer weather, and we have been spending a lot of time outside.  I try to get some gardening done as R happily plays in her sandbox, watertable, on her swings, or helps me by watering plants with the watering can.   Here she is trying to catch butterflies.  She was unsucessful at catching any, but she had a blast riding her see saw and waving her butterfly net yelling “Yeeehawwww”.

The Cats and Rebecca

The cats have been growing extra fond of R lately.  Cedes has been especially friendly, seeking out R for attention even.  Josie on the other hand has been increasing her tolerance of R.  Today I came in just as Rebecca was coming out to the yard.  I noticed Josie on the couch.   It seems Rebecca had been busy carefully placing puzzle pieces on Josie, while Josie was trying to ignore her.  In the past Josie would just get annoyed with R and leave, but wow her tolerance has grown!

Pure Bliss

R enjoying her swing.  What a smile!

Random musings…

Ok, I haven’t posted the last little while so I’ll play a bit of catch up.

A few days ago we had 2 family friends over both with girls from China.  It was our first glorious friend BBQ of the season, and wow was it great.  The kids had a blast playing outside despite the fact that it was still a bit cool even with the sun.  R was ‘blowing bubbles’ and in addition to getting bubble soap all over her hands and shirt, she decided to try to wash part of her hair with the solution.  Daddy hosed her off a bit and off she went just wearing her skirt.   She and her friends were at the top of the hill on the swing set.  Her little friend N came running down the hill to us adults, and said quite calmly “R needs help”.  So I went up the hill, and lone behold my daughter was waiting at the top of the ladder for me to help her across the monkey bars.  I was relieved to see that she had waited for me to help her, but was shocked to see her BUCK naked waiting on the ladder! Nice!

Later on just before our friends left R decided to sit herself down on the ground.  I asked her what was the matter and she said “I’m a baby and I can’t walk”.  Her little friend N comes walking by and hears this, then just takes R hand and hauls her up!  Very sensible friend!

It’s getting so nice outside we are spending more and more time out there.  The gardens are greening up and everything looks great after that long winter.  We have also gotten to know our new neighbours more (they moved in winter).  R has seemed to found a good friend in the neighbour boy B.  They love to play together.  That is so nice to see!
