J tries sweet potato for the first time

He seemed to like it. He certainly opens up wide for it. R really wanted to try it, (as she has tried all his foods) and she loved it. Told me she could eat a whole jar. Well, good to know that she can finish off whatever he doesn’t like!

Such a lovely day

We had breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa. R and Grandpa went off to trim grapes and do other things. Later on we picked her up and took her to gymnastics class. After that R and I spent some time sorting coins. Apparently she is learning some of this at school. She went and got plastic cups for all the denominations, and carefully wrote coin values on masking tape and attached them to the cups. Then she and I did some counting. She is so smart, it always amazes me!

Afterwards we walked (in the SUNSHINE) to a wing place near us and had a nice dinner. J ate some oatmeal cereal and was happy with that. We walked back home and went out for icecream. What a lovely time. The kids then went to bed. J’s cold is getting worse, he is so stuffy. He also has the eye gunk and a little cough. Poor thing. Yet again he is pretty happy. We put the humidifier in his room at bedtime. About an hour later he wailed (we heard it on the monitor and went sprinting upstairs). It was pretty steamy in his room. He had a bottle, and settled down again. Poor thing.

I guess it was inevitable

So J started this lateset batch of colds while still on our trip. It made the rounds through all of us (as I’ve already complained to you) R having only suffered a short amount of time. Well J has something again. He has gunky eyes and a little cough. Poor guy. I must say he is a trooper, and is still pretty happy. He also had a mamoth 31/2 hour nap today. In other news, he also tried Oatmeal cereal today. He still doesn’t really have the eating thing down pat. His tounge is very busy swishing and twisting about while we tries to eat. Still, he seems to like it.

R says

This is what R rambled to daddy in the car today. No joke. Dadddy’s response was that “I am a reed in the wind, I let it wash over me”. Here is what she said. “Guess who I made a friend with Daddy? Her name is Eunice. Isn’t that a funny name? Maybe her parents love her even though they named her Eunice. Maybe they just didn’t have a choice! Maybe they just couldn’t think of any other names! Ow! I just hurt my head on the glass! Why did you put a window there?” and so it goes.
Later today she told me “I want someone to play with me, just like Grandpa does. You guys to do much work here.” So true eh?
I must say the other day for some reason she decided she needed to clean. CLEAN. Not only did she pick all sorts of toys, paper bit, markers etc, up, but she swept, and asked for a CLOTH to wipe the floor! Then she went to work on the basement. And wow did she tidy up. I’m not sure what came over her, but it was amazing! Now granted I have not been able to find the cable to download pics from my camera, I think it might be a victem of the ‘clean’, but hey, small price to pay eh?

Monumental day

J tried Rice cereal for the first time today. He was not at all interested until he had already finished his bottle. So we tried then. He wasn’t sure what to do with the spoon, or the cereal on it. He was eager to suck the rice cereal off my finger though. (Glad those smart people who’ve tried it all have written books). So he ate about a tablespoon.

It was also Grandpa’s birthday today. We celebrated by going over to their house and eating Chinese food. Of course both of our children decided to cry and scream during supper, so it wasn’t so peaceful. Still, A good time was had. Grandma has this 4-type of spinkle dispenser, and R was trhilled to be able to give Grandpa all 4 types on his pie. She then also served grandma and herself. Apparently sprinkles are IT. Here are some pictures.

What a sweet kid

So I’ve been complaining that daddy and I have been sick. I’ve been trying to keep on top of things, but this every-other-day kindergarten thing is messing with my head. R’s class has been setting up for a celebration of 100 days of school. They have collected 100 items for the food bank, and were all supposed to bring in 100 things to count. (R brought in buttons). The plan was to celebrate with a PJ day, and eating a veggie snack together. So I got her all ready on thursday, and proudly sent her out the door with all her stuff, and promptly went back to bed. So when R come home, she tells me she was the only kid in the class with PJs on. I re-read the sheet, and realized it was on friday…sigh. So I did the adult thing, and appologized to R. She tells me “It’s ok mummy. When kids asked why I was I was in my PJs, I told them, ‘sometimes when you are sick and not feeling well, you forget things (meaning my pooor mom forgot)'”. I was floored. My little girl was defending me! How lucky am I !

Oma’s birthday

We got to celebrate Oma’s birthday today with her. Having been so sick, we really didn’t want to cook (read spread our germs) to Oma and Opa. So instead we took them to the Keg. It was a nice dinner. J slept for a while, Oma and R coloured and opened presents. After supper J woke up and made the rounds. He was with Opa for a bit, then he was unhappy with Opa. Opa was a bit like a movie star, and didn’t want to be filmed! Here are the pictures.

The dessert. Apple crisp and ice cream. But it looks a bit like egg noodles and stroganoff doesn’t it??

Chinese New Year

Happy year of the Tiger! We got to celebrate the Chinese new year with our Bamboo bunch yesterday. It was great fun to see all our friends, and nice to see all the kids dressed up. I managed to buy little J-boy a cute Chinese outfit too. I’ll try to get some more shots of J and R together, but that just didn’t happen at the banquet. Here are some pictures.

R and her friend were able to make J-boy giggle and laugh.

Comments

Hey all,
I think I’ve finally mentally recovered from our trip. Now I’m just dealing with a head cold that is lingering. Anyways. It was brought to my attention that it is not clear how to ‘comment’ on these posts. I know, it isn’t at all intuitive…but the big “0” next to the title is the place to click to comment. Once there is a comment, it will change to reflect the number of comments there are. Feel free to comment!

We are home

We are finally home. Did you know that our house sways? I am finding this is worse than it has been in the past. In fact, this ‘sea sickness’ is worse for me now, I didn’t every feel nauseous on the ship! Anyways. The kids and us are tired, but we are fine. Hopefully a good nights sleep will make us all feel better.
