Canada Day

I am embarassed to say that I did not take a picture of my two sweeties together in the Canada gear today. Bad mummy. By the time I took the picture up above, R had already changed into her swim suit. This pciture of J crawling on the sandbox doesn’t even show his canada flag shirt.

Below is R’s rendition of Oh Canada.

Bye bye

Cousin L has been here for the past year from Germany. It has been great to have her here, I am so glad I got to know her better, and I’m glad my kids got to know her. L, we’ll miss you!

Odds and Ends

Gappy x2!

Well she finally lost it! It was so wiggly that it was hanging crooked. During breakfast she wiped her mouth with her napkin, and it just droped out. So now I have my gappy girl for real! I can already see the one tooth coming through, so she won’t be gappy for long.
It was a lovely hot day. The kids had a good time playing in the yard. J really seems to like the water table. Funny, R never did. Well, I guess she did, but her idea of playing with it was dunking her head in it. J actually seems to ‘play’!!

Gappy girl

R lost her first front tooth today. It had been crazy loose for a few days. She looks so gappy now! Even so, the one next to it is also crazy crooked and almost ready to come out. She seems pretty happy.

Look ma, no hands

J did super well at therapy today. He stood by himself quite a bit. He walked with just some help by the therapist holding his ankles. He somehow still needs that assurance that he feels you holding him somewhere. Anyways. To get him to walk, you sort of nudge the leg he is supposed to move. Very funny. I managed to get him to let go of my hands at home and stand by himself for a while. After school R and J munched on a snack while sitting in the yard.

All fortified, the kids felt they had the strength to watch grandpa do some work on those never ending tree pieces.

Big tree

So a few days ago my dad noticed a tree down in our yard. If you’ve ever been over, you know that our yard is quite long (270+feet) and slopes up toward the back. The last 20 feet or so is what I call bush. We lost a big tree in here. Luckily it didn’t take down our glass house, or the neighbour’s fence. Still it was quite the chore to get through, given that it was suspended in the air, and aronud 16 inches in diameter…I’ll get more pics up soon.

Well, perhaps we should be purchasing some lumber…

What does the title have to do with the picture? nothing. I just wanted to post a cute pic of my kids!

Wow. We have had sooooo much rain. Crazy rain, really crazy. I believe there were only a few days in the whole month where it was dry. The grass is growing like gangbusters, as are the weeds. For a while it looked like we should gets some lumber and start an ark…

Alas today was stinkin’ hot with no rain. Yesterday as well. But, wait for it….we’re under a thunderstorm advisory yet for this evening! Might have to hit Home Depot yet. Let me know if you want in on the ark!

Climbing the walls….literally.

R figured out that she can climb the door frames. What a strong girl. I can’t believe it. She thinks it is quite hilarious.

Fun Fair

R’s school had its annual fun fair today. I was there volunteering for the whole night, and daddy brought the kids and grandma. I was in the ‘lucky loonie’ room, where you bought ballots, and put them in draws to win prizes. I bought a whole bunch, and gave a bunch to R to put in the items she thought she’d like to win. I managed to sneak in 1 minute to run around and put the remaining ballots in. At the end of the night, I won a large craft basket. I was all ready to give R the credit, and tell her she won it, when I found ALL of her ballots at home. She had just stuffed them into daddy’s pocket. So I teased her mercilessly, and told her how “I” won this fabulous craft basket, but because I was such a good and kind mummy, I’d share with her… She wasn’t pleased with this teasing at all!

J’s favourite part was checking out the wheels of the firetruck that came to the school, and R was delighted to get her face painted. A tiring, but fun evening.
